'Noon was originally modelled in terracotta in 1935-6, in an edition of three, one of which is in the Tate. It features two girls, intimate friends, perhaps lovers, but here in the grip of serenity rather than passion. This classical pagan figure group is substantial and grounded, very satisfying. The terracotta has now been cast in bronze in an edition of 10, fulfilling its sculptural potential and what was doubtless Dobson’s original intention.'
