Woman Seated
Bronze from the 1926 unique original casting, cast in 2019 in an edition of 10.
Signed Dobson on the base
Dobson Estate stamp
Numbered
Black Isle Foundry stamp.
'A compactly sensual bronze dated c1926 and simply titled Woman Seated is a fine example of the work from this period. It seems to refer to the First Portrait of Mary of the same year, and if it is not actually a portrait of Dobson’s new wife (the face is perhaps not quite oval enough), it is certainly close in feeling. The wing of hair dropping over the face is reminiscent of the magnificent watercolour portrait Dobson made of her that year.'
Andrew Lambirth, Frank Dobson 'Bring it Alive'. Goldmark 2022.
