Grace
Driftwood, mixed media assemblage.
The two curved items of driftwood partnered perfectly; the partially burnt head in proportion with them.
By having it wall-hung, rather than sat on a stem or legs, flight was confirmed.
A calendar of Inuit art hangs in my studio. A friend brought it from Canada. As August expired I'd turned to September and was surprised to see an image very similar to 'Grace'.
On next meeting our friend I told her what had transpired. I'd kept each month a surprise.
"I assembled 'Grace' on 30.4.18."
"Oh" she replied. "That's my birthday!"
Serendipity.
PS The September image was 'Loon in Flight' by Kananginak Pootoogook (1935-2010) Produced in 2008.
