Race in Switzerland
Signed and numbered original linocut, 1930
Printed in two colours, cobalt blue and red on oriental laid paper.
Number 17 from the edition of 50 - however not all of the edition was printed as it became too expensive for the Auto-Club Zurich, the proposed sponsor.
Annotated in the top right of the image ‘handprint’ - which refers to being hand printed by the artist.
Inspired by the motor car races which took place at the Klausen Pass in Switzerland in the 1920s and 1930s., where drivers had to negotiate a series of hairpin bends at altitude.
From the private collection of master printmaker James Collyer of JC Editions.
