Meeting at the Waters Edge
Hambleton Wood, Hambleton Peninsular, Rutland, winter sunshine.
Looking back along the edge of Rutland Water in Hambleton Wood, this view showed the contrasts between the density of the trees in the woodland and the peace of the water’s edge, with the rocks and gentle waves in the December sunshine. It was meant to suggest the deserted land, although with a few reminders of humans, taking into account the man-made reservoir itself. However, when my husband looked at it with a magnifying glass, he was convinced that there were a group of figures in the distance and even a dog! The title reflects this anomaly as I did not paint those figures intentionally, they just emerged!
