Fairy Tern and Nest
Driftwood, mixed media assemblage.
During our first full-time Spring in Borth, he took the bus South to Llanrhystyd and set off northerly along salty cliff tops patrolled by choughs, cormorants and peregrine falcons.
Imagining I'd spend part of the walk exploring usually inaccessible beaches. I'd worn wellingtons. NOT a good idea.
A short way into the nine and a half mile way, I found this beautiful item of wind blasted, weather worn wood and straightaway saw a fairy tern nesting on it.
Heavy and awkward to carry, we nevertheless became inseparable, only sitting apart to eat Jo's picnic and air my 'rubberised' feet!
The steep, rocky shale descent into Aberystwyth was hell, but my prize dulled the pain.
Bird and pebble are from the beach shore.
