Grey-Roller Weevil
Driftwood, mixed media assemblage.
This grey paint roller, caked solid so it looks more like a type of Swiss roll, nearly became an assortment of other creatures during its time in the studio. Then I read about weevils. They belong to a 'super family’ – around 97,000 types! So my roller became an extraordinary, previously unknown weevil. With its bushy blue tail, elongated snout, flickering red tongue and delicate blue antenna it takes a bit of getting used to.
