There are many paths down from the Beacon through the woodland. The main, popular ones and then the more hidden ones which are often more enclosed and on the edges of the hillside. These paths are flanked by tall trees, stone walls and dense undergrowth. The sunshine penetrated through to the path intermittently, but mainly highlighted the tops of the trees. Walks in these woods with friends were a favourite activity during the various lockdowns when we would catch up on each other’s lives and share the essence of the place.
